ynvisible's 2018 year in review!

A turning point year - ynvisible’s 2018 in review

2018 has been a huge turning point for ynvisible. As the year is coming to an end, we’d like to review the major milestones achieved and how we’ve positioned the Company for growth, and thank all our Shareholders, Clients, Partners and Suppliers for all the progress made thanks to your support.

A YEAR OF BUILDING CAPACITY & CAPABILITY

This was a year of building our team, our production capacity and our capability to sell our technology and supporting services to the needs of our leading “lighthouse” clients, and onward to wider markets.

The year started off with ynvisible going public. With significant investment capital, we grew our production capacity by orders of magnitude and brought new experts to our multi-disciplinary team and filled critical roles in marketing & sales, design, printing, chemistry – to name a few. As a part of building our team, we established an Advisory Board to bring in strong industrial expertise of core customer markets, electrochromics and printed intelligence.

We kicked-off and carried out big initiatives in critical areas of up-scaling production:

  • Our efforts in the commercialization of our inks received a boost with the opening of our inks lab in Freiburg, Germany.

  • We built a new sheet-to-sheet production line and customer training facility to be able to fulfill customer orders and accelerate market adoption. With the growing team and bigger equipment, we moved into a bigger building in the city of Almada, Portugal. The grand opening of this site was held September 20th - a live stream video from the day is available for viewing on Youtube. From this facility we are able to fulfil production orders for Clients and carry out technology transfer to their print suppliers.

  • Developments toward roll-to-roll production of electrochromic devices were initiated and driven by needs of lead Client cases.

GROWING CUSTOMER BASE

Increased visibility and production capacity has accelerated customer activity. The high number and diversity of client contacts received during this year shows that there is a lot of excitement for our technology. The ynvisible brand is well regarded.

All major on-going client developments are covered by confidentiality agreements and are focused on product initiatives driven by end clients. Throughout the year strong progress was made toward first market introductions.

We have built our sales, marketing, and customer support team and processes to more effectively handle the increasing number of client requests and accelerate time to market.

SEVERAL WORLD FIRSTS

Technologically, the year was full of exciting breakthroughs and with partners we demonstrated several world’s firsts.

The year kicked off with two multi-million euro EU Horizon 2020 developments with two partner consortium groups:

  • DecoChrom in which we build tools that foster adoption by enabling designers to create high value-added consumer products with our embedded electrochromics. We’ve already trained partners and designers to create with printed electrochromics. Their first pieces of work have included artwork such as a remake of Banksy’s disappearing balloon girl stunt.

  • INNPAPER which seeks to make printed electronics completely paper based and plastic-free.

With our partners in these consortia and with other pre-existing partnerships we rapidly produced several technological breakthroughs, which were world’s firsts:

  • In April, at IDTechEx Printed Electronics Europe conference together with VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland we demonstrated a novel activity tracker, in which the entire printed electrochromic device was constructed on plastic foil that was over-moulded with plastics. This demonstrates the technical ability to take ynvisible’s printed interactive graphics inside of plastic products such as watch straps, sports equipment, wearable devices and numerous healthcare applications.

  • In November, at IDTechEx Printed Electronics USA conference we demonstrated new colors for electrochromic displays with color transition between magenta and blue color on display. We are aiming for near term partnership announcements to bring more electrochromic colors to market.

  • Also at the conference in November, we demonstrated the first fully paper based electrochromic display produced onto a paper based RFID tag. This was demonstrated together with the French paper company Arjowiggins Creative Papers.

  • In December, with designers and partners in the DecoChrom consortium, we built a dynamic color changing large area smart front panel to an exhibition booth. This demonstrates emerging possibilities with electrochromics in interior design and interactive surfaces for smart environments.

We continued to build our partnership networks for technological and commercial supply. We continued active participation in the Organic Electronics Association (OE-A) – with whom we will be exhibiting at Consumer Electronics Show CES2019 in Las Vegas (Jan. 7-11), and within the PrintoCent printed intelligence industrialization community, where Jani-Mikael Kuusisto also acted as a Board Member. In the Spring we joined Intelliflex the Canadian lead industry alliance accelerating the growth for flexible and hybrid electronics.

BEGIN THE YEAR WITH US AT CES 2019

2019 looks to be an exciting year for ynvisible, it will be the year of the commercialization for our products and services.

We start the year at Consumer Electronics Show CES 2019. At the show, ynvisible can be found at the OE-A joint pavilion at Tech West, Sands Expo, Level 2, Halls A-D, Booth # 43164. We warmly invite you to visit us at the OE-A booth and get a first-hand feel of our technology and its various applications. Also on Tuesday 8th at 3:30 pm Dr. Inês Henriques, COO, will be speaking about applications of our technology at the CES conference track on Printed Electronic

We extend you our best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous 2019!
